KTNET CEO & President Ryu Chang Moo, who joined an economic mission organized in conjunction with President Roh Moo-hyun's visit to Central America from September 10 to 15, introduced Korea's e-trade system to the countries in the region actively and suggested cooperation with Korea in this area.
At the Korea-SICA (Central American Integration System) Economic Cooperation Forum held in Costa Rica, in particular, President Ryu told SICA member countries that introduction of e-trade is imperative for the competitiveness enhancement of both enterprises and governments. In his speech on the theme 'Korea's e-Trade Promotion Status and Prospects,' he also revealed that if the member nations wish to establish an e-trade system, KTNET will do its best to support them based on its know-how accumulated over the past 14 years.
SICA member country officials participating in the forum expressed an active interest in Korea's e-trade system. As those officials, particularly from Panama and El Salvador, asked about specific measures, President Ryu assured them of KTNET's future cooperation. Furthermore, Korea's renowned enterprises and four leading economic organizations, including the Federation of Korean Industries (FKI) and Korea Chamber of Commerce & Industry (KCCI), which joined the mission, also expounded on their new awareness of e-trade. Therefore, Present Ryu's visit is appraised as having contributed significantly to the development of e-trade.
Based on the achievements harvested from its president's overseas visit, KTNET, which is targeting the establishment of the world's foremost global e-trade network, plans to reinforce its marketing functions significantly to strengthen the foundation for cooperation between Korea and Central American countries. KTNET also plans to further solidify its cooperation with related organizations, such as enterprises that have advanced into the region and Korea Eximbank, to facilitate the proliferation of e-trade. |
